There’s more to becoming an adult than just finishing school or turning 18. There’s no definitive act or moment in which you magically make the switch from bumbling teenager to confident, street-savvy adult. In actual fact, this process takes a really long time and it could be decades before you truly feel like who’ve got your act together.

There are, however, a few life moments that will help you build up that independence. Things like buying a car, studying and moving out of home are all steps towards adulthood that will have you making your own way in this big ol’ world (although there will definitely be a few stumbles along the way).
