How To Find A Formal Date During A Pandemic
Agh, this pandemic has been a real kick in the gut in more ways than one. Dating, especially, has become even harder than it already was. I mean, for real, how the heck are we meant to find formal dates now?
Don't panic. We've got the low down on how you can still find a date whilst being socially distant. With these tips, you hopefully won't get so desperate that you bring your dog or something... tbh, that'd be a vibe.
1. Start sliding into dm's
Think about a funky person you met at a party, a festival, an event, school camp, an excursion... anything! If you remember that they could bring the banter and envision that they'd brush up nicely in formal attire, it's time to just absolutely send it and slide into their dm's like the confident king/queen that you are.
They will feel unreal that you thought of them and even if they say no, who the heck cares! There are plenty of fish in the sea so keep swimming. I believe in you.
2. Suss out people in your year group more thoroughly
You know that guy in your maths class that you've never conversed with once or that girl you always see in your PD/H/PE class but you don't even know her name... Why not suss out if they're a vibe, even if your friendship circles haven't met yet, and straight-up ask if they'd like to be your formal date.
Look, desperate times call for desperate measure and corona has forced us to be upfront! Fake it 'til you make it and just ask! It's deadset unreal to experience your formal whilst properly meeting someone for the first time and having a laugh over shared anecdotes.
3. Bring your best mate
Who says a date has to be a love interest? That's so overrated.
Besides, you'll probably have a better night boogieing with your best mate anyways!
Plan your formal attire to be matching, rock up together, photobomb every picture together and voila, you're in for an 11/10 night.
4. Bring a mutual friend
Maybe you've met them, maybe you've heard of them through your mates. Ask the friend in between you both, the bridge, if you will, to ask the mutual friend if they'd like to come to your formal.
You're not having to ask yourself so it's not as scary and who knows, you could meet a new best mate (or more *wink wink*).
5. Tinder
If you're 18-years-old, use this at your own discretion and be safe!
See, best case scenario would be that you match with someone with mutual friends from a nearby school. After some banter and perhaps a date or two. then bob's your uncle - you might just have yourself a strapping date to the formal! Easy.
Oh, and by the way, the biggest alpha move is to rock up, confident and hot as hell, on your own. There are plenty of fish in the sea but you can have a wild night without them too.
