Cyber Security Education and Career Progression Pathways
The flowchart outlines various educational pathways leading to career progression in Cyber Security.
- Starting with educational qualifications, there are three pathways:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Cyber Security, taking 3-4 years full time.
- A VET course such as a Certificate IV in Cyber Security, which takes 6 months full time.
- An Intensive Cyber Security Bootcamp lasting 12-24 weeks full time.
- These pathways are followed by a work placement or internship, typically lasting 3 months.
- After the work placement, individuals can secure a Graduate/Entry role in Cyber Security.
- From there, the path leads to career progression into more senior roles, which include:
- Security Manager
- Security Architect
- Chief Information Security Officer
