Data Scientist Education and Career Progression Pathways

The flowchart outlines various educational pathways leading to career progression in Data Science.

1. Starting with educational qualifications, there are two pathways:
   • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mathematics OR Actuarial Science, Information Technology, or Data OR Computer Science.
   • Short courses such as Microcredentialled Courses, Bootcamps or Self-Paced Courses like Udemy. Then, a VET course such as a Certificate IV in Business Big Data, a Diploma of IT (Database and Data Management) or Information Technology (Business Analysis).
2. These pathways are followed by a work placement or internship, like CommBank's Technology Associate Program (casuals), Technology Summer Intern Program or a Co-Op Student Program, followed by Commbank's Graduate Program.
3. After the work placement, individuals can secure a Graduate/Entry role as an Associate Data Scientist.
4. From there, the path leads to career progression into more senior roles, which include:
   • Senior Associate Data Scientist
   • Data Scientist
   • Senior Data Scientist
