Artillery Team

Typical tasks and responsibilities

Tasks within the Artillery Team vary depending on the role, but may include:

• Locating enemy targets using advanced surveillance equipment such as thermal and laser range finders
• Engaging state-of-the-art sensors, such as Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAVs) and artillery radars, to gather battlefield intelligence
• Coordinating fire support from different units, including Artillery & mortars, attack helicopters, Air Force fighter jets and naval surface fire ships
• Setting up, loading and firing the incredibly powerful M777 155mm Howitzer
• Safely handling, preparing and storing artillery ammunition
• Driving and servicing cross-country vehicles 
• Maintaining a high level of physical fitness
